UNA-Canada announces Walied Soliman, as its 2019 Global Citizen Laureate
The United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada) is pleased to announce Walied Soliman as the Association’s 2019 Global Citizen Laureate.
Walied Soliman, global chair and Canadian chair of Norton Rose Fulbright, has achieved significant prominence as an M&A and shareholder activism lawyer. He has been acknowledged many times by his peers for his professional excellence.
As a long-time advocate of diversity, inclusion and mental health issues, he believes that Canada is strengthened when advancement is open to all.
Mr. Soliman translates his positive vision for a better world into involvement in his community, where he serves as a board member of Toronto’s SickKids Hospital Foundation. Through their personal philanthropy, he and his wife Deena strive to support initiatives that improve health, education and access to social justice for all Canadians.
UNA-Canada will host the 2019 Global Citizens Dinner in his honour at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, on November 21, 2019.
Kathryn White, President & CEO of the UNA-Canada notes:
“The UNA-Canada is delighted to welcome Walied Soliman into the circle of enlightened Canadians we have been privileged to recognize and thank for their dedication to our common humanity and well-being. He is a global citizen deeply engaged with the world around him, and clear in meeting his responsibilities to contribute to his society. These qualities and contributions are the measure of our Global Citizens Award.”
The UNA-Canada is grateful for the generosity of Ascend Fundraising Solutions as our presenting sponsor and host, as well as to our other sponsors of this evening.
